Untitled Love Melancholy #653

On second thought, I loved us all by myself.

I fell for us far too fast, far too deep.

I dove into the deep dark alone, and you watched me, content to wade in the shallows.

You shrank back from the sun, burning quickly beneath love’s bright light.

Blinded and scorched where other people lingered.

And I, drowning, followed love’s lure to a frigid grave beneath the waves.

Forgetting the feel of the sun and you kissing my face.
